WILL IT RETURN? — It has not been the season for ice fishermen, so far, as Mother Nature has yet to provide the temperatures to freeze over area lakes for continuous ice fishing adventures. Fishermen were able to get on the ice the last week or so, but that ended Monday evening when the 40 degree temperatures made the ice thinner than it already was. While there is no such thing as "safe ice," fishermen were reporting 3 inches in places last week.
Forecasts by the National Weather Service, Northern Indiana, are not showing any temperatures cold enough in the next 10 days for the making of any ice.
Shown are a small handful of ice fishermen in the Macy Slip area on Wawasee Lake, an area which normally has been turned into a small village by this time in past winters. A small handful of ice fishermen were in this area Monday evening.
