For months, there have been several questions swirling around the community regarding Oakwood. Ian Rolland, receiver for the property, recently answered a few of them.
One question is whether the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church transferred the property back to the Oakwood Foundation. Rolland said to the best of his knowledge, the conference has returned the property. He explained the court gave the conference a date to have the property transferred.
“Since I haven’t heard from my attorney I assume it happened,” he said.
Other questions are about the Oakwood Service Company. Stating he wanted to make his recommendations first to Judge Duane Huffer before making public comment, Rolland did admit he needed a court order to get the Oakwood Service Company to turn over paperwork.
“He (Huffer) asked for cooperation. But before that, the service company board was helpful,” Rolland said. He stated his accountant feels comfortable with the information she received.
Another question is about former Oakwood board member Jim Ottjes serving on the Oakwood Service Company board and Oakwood Property Owners board and if that was in conflict with the judge’s order permanently removing him and the other Oakwood Foundation members.
Rolland stated Ottjes recently resigned from the Oakwood Service Company board.
A hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, when it is expected Huffer will rule on Rolland’s recommendations. Rolland has stated he plans to turn his report in to the court by Wednesday, Dec. 15, to give the judge plenty of time to read and reflect on the information.
